Financial Aid Service
(Rent, Mortgage and Utility Assistance)

Circumstances resulting from unemployment, illness, or even unexpected auto repairs can turn a seemingly stable financial situation into one where the basic necessities of food & shelter are in question.  Crossroads Community Services offers rent/mortgage and utility assistance once in a 12 month period for residents in the city of Dallas who meet our financial requirements (en español: requisitos para asistencia financiera).

Who Qualifies:

We pay the following past-due bills: your mortgage or rent payment, or your electric, gas or water bills provided you are about to be evicted or the utility is about to be terminated.  If we agree to help, we only make our payment after your total past due balance equals the amount that we agree to pay.

Most importantly, you must provide written proof that your household will have enough money coming in every month to pay all reasonable living expenses.  If you cannot provide this information, please do not set an appointment.

If you are requesting rent or mortgage assistance after the 20th of the month, you must be able to prove that you will be able to pay next month's rent or mortgage and that your total past due balance equals the amount that we have agreed to pay before we will pay our part.

An important part to our financial assistance program is our 90 minute Goals & Budget Management Workshop that is held every Thursday starting at 10 a.m.  Everyone who receives financial must attend the Workshop.  All persons who attend the workshop are invited to work with a Strategic Thinking Mentor on a weekly, one-on-one basis.  It’s our clients’ choice to participate. If you know of someone who needs Financial Assistance, please tell him or her about this program.

Persons seeking financial assistance must make an appointment for a financial assessment.  To do this you must call NEW financial assistance number, 214-741-1385, and speak with a financial screener.  If you get a busy signal or a recording, hang up and dial again.  We know it can be frustrating, but keep trying until you get a live person; dialing an extension will not help you set an appointment.

Appointments are set Monday through Thursday, 8:30am to 12:00noon.
