Food and Clothing Requirements

Food and Clothing Requirements
  

If you meet all of the requirements below, you are eligible to receive clothing and/or food assistance once per month from CCS.  We are open 8:30-11:30 AM, Monday through ThursdayIf you are requesting food (which means you have a residence), COME EARLY!  We can only serve so many people per day.

Requirements for clothing assistanceYou must:

q       Show a valid picture ID (Driver’s License, Texas ID card, Offender’s ID, Stewpot ID, etc.) each time you visit.

q       Provide Social Security cards, birth certificates, or documentation from a city, state, or federal government agency verifying everyone living in your household for whom you are requesting clothing.

Requirements for food assistanceYou must:

Bring proof that you currently live in your own residence in the City of Dallas, not just Dallas County.  (Zip codes beginning with 752…)  If you live with someone else that person must come into the CCS office in order to set-up the file and claim you as a resident of their household.

q       Valid proof would be a current gas, electric, water bill, phone bill (not a cell-phone bill), cable television bill, a mortgage or property tax statement or a lease dated the month you are requesting food that shows your name and address.  If your utilities are paid in your lease agreement, bring a copy of the lease agreement verifying all your utilities are paid and a current rent receipt that shows your name and address as well as the name, address, and phone number of the party from whom you lease.

q       Show a valid picture ID (Driver’s License, Texas ID card, Offender’s ID, etc.) each time you visitA Stewpot ID is not acceptable for food.

q       Provide Social Security cards, birth certificates, or documentation from a city, state, or federal government agency verifying everyone living in your household for whom you are requesting food.

q       You may be asked to verify your household income.

q       After six visits, you will be asked to produce all of your documentation again in order to re-evaluate your current situation.

IF YOU ARE HOMELESS, you can get clothing (not food) one time per month provided you present a picture ID.  In order to get clothes, go to the Stewpot after 1PM and make a clothing appointment for the next day.  Ex. Make your appointment Monday PM, get your clothes Tuesday AM.

 CCS is located on the second floor at 1822 Young Street, Dallas, TX 75201, on the S.W. corner of Young St. and Park. Ave.  Enter on the Park Ave side.  Metered parking is available.  CCS is open Mon-Thur, 8:30AM-11:30AM and closed Fri-Sat.  For directions click HERE to see a MapQuest map.
