Crossroads distributes food directly to those who need it in our Community Market and through our distribution partners.

Food Distribution

At Crossroads Community Services, each person who comes to our Community Market has the opportunity to leave with fresh and nutritious food.

A Registered Dietitian with thirty years of experience helped us develop the Crossroads Nutrition-Based Food Selection System–an algorithm in our program database that helps match the kinds and amounts of food received to the age, gender, and activity level of each household member as recommended by the Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA). According to Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger relief organization, our approach is unique. Our system calculates the amounts of fruits, vegetables, proteins, grains, and dairy needed to provide the foundation for the preparation of 21 balanced meals for each family member.

Using this distribution method, we get the RIGHT AMOUNTS of the RIGHT FOODS to the RIGHT PEOPLE.

On average, a family of four receives 100 pounds of groceries when they visit Crossroads’ pantry or one of our CDP sites. In 2018, Crossroads distributed 2.25 million pounds of food to approximately 12,000 unduplicated individuals, roughly 1,900,000 meals, and a market value savings to our clients of $4.6 million.
